Omeruta can record a selected screen, window, or application and add the finished video to the active workspace's Media Library.
Before you start
Open a workspace. Your operating system may ask for screen-recording access and, when enabled, microphone access. If access is denied, grant it in the operating system's privacy settings and try again.
System-audio capture and the available source picker depend on the operating system and selected source. A requested audio source may be unavailable even when video recording is supported.
Choose recording quality and audio
Open the menu beside Start recording in the top bar:
- Sharp text prioritizes detail for code, terminals, and documents.
- Balanced is the default for most screens.
- Smooth motion prioritizes frame rate for playback, animation, and demos.
Under Recording audio, turn on System audio for sound played by the selected app or display and Microphone for narration. If audio controls are disabled, open Settings → Features, expand the recording controls, and turn on audio recording. The same Settings area lets you choose a microphone and a default quality for the next recording.
Start and stop a recording
- Select Start recording.
- In the operating-system picker, choose the screen, window, or application to capture and approve access if requested.
- Wait for Omeruta to show the recording state.
- Select Stop recording when finished.
- Wait while Omeruta stops and saves the recording.
While the source picker is open, Cancel recording setup cancels the start. Closing or ending the selected capture source may also stop the recording.
The selected profile is a requested target. The source, operating system, and available encoder can produce a different resolution, frame rate, or container format.
Find the result
After a successful save, Recording saved shows the file name, duration, size, and path. Use:
- Preview to open the recording in the Media Library preview;
- Library to open the Media Library; or
- Open to open the saved file with the computer's default application.
The file is stored in the active workspace's private media folder and is registered as a Media Library item. The original recording remains a local workspace asset unless you explicitly share it through another feature.
If recording fails
- Confirm that a workspace is open.
- Check screen-recording and microphone permissions in the operating system.
- Try Balanced if the selected source cannot meet another profile.
- Turn off an unavailable audio source and record the video again.
- Read the recording status or error before starting another recording.
